Waiting! Who is tired of waiting? Me! Me! Me! Who else? Okay, the point of this post is not to complain, because there is a much better alternative: worship! There is power when you worship Jesus. Obviously there are so many reasons to do so, but breakthrough happens when you worship because it shuts out room for the enemy to reside. When you speak words that bring life then you can’t also be speaking words of death. So pursuing a life centered around worship opens up all communication lines between you and God and shuts out room for anything not of Jesus to reside.
Do you realize that no matter what you are waiting for you get to control your attitude and emotions? That means that it’s up to you if you will grumble your way through or praise your way through your wait. It’s up to you whether you will kick and scream your way through or worship your way through your wait. What’s my recommendation? Worship!
While many, including myself at times, think of worship as music that isn’t always the case. Worship can be prayer, reading, dancing or journaling. Anything that connects you with the heart of God is worship. That will look different for each and every person. For some it will be dancing up and down during the music at church and for others it will be quietly sitting in their sit. The good news is as long as you are pursuing God, there is no wrong way to worship.
Paul sets the perfect example of why worshiping is so powerful. I think my trial is hard but can you imagine being in prison? This is where Paul found himself but instead of feeling sorry for himself Acts 16:25 says, “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.” And what happened next? Their worship caused such a violent earthquake that the doors flew open and the prisoners were released. Paul’s worship loosened the chains, not just for him, but his worship impacted those around him too!
What chains are you in today? Is it infertility? A financial crisis? Divorce? Whatever it is, choose to praise your way through. It’s much better than the alternative options and it’s one way to connect yourself to heaven. Turn on some worship music and I guarantee that it will turn your focus from your problems to the only one who is worthy of your worship!
“Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.” Psalm 150:6.
