Our journey to becoming parents has been so hard. But, because of Jesus and our amazing friends it has been filled with so much hope, peace, and joy. However, I don’t think we would be where we are spiritually or emotionally if we weren’t surrounded by such amazing friends and family.
I bet if you looked at the qualities your closest friends have, then you would recognize that their qualities are very similar to yours. If your friends go out and party every Friday night, you are probably doing the same. If they bash their husbands during girls night, then yep, you most likely are too. This isn’t always the case, but even if you aren’t doing those things, it is never a good idea to be around someone who is a bad influence on you. “Do not be fooled, bad companions ruin good character.” 1 Corinthians 15:33
What about those friends who spend their time wisely and are living devoted to Christ? Those who are walking with other believers, attending church, and believing for kingdom encounters. If your top 2 or 3 friends are doing these things, then most likely you will be too. “Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble.” Proverbs 13:20
I don’t know about you, but I want friends who do life with me. I want friends who will encourage me, who will speak God’s truths to me, who will guide me with Godly counsel, who will believe with me, who will declare God’s promises over my life with me, who will cry and laugh with me, and ultimately whether I am in my lowest of lows or highest of highs will stick by my side and love me.
Not only do I want it, but I realize how much I need it. I need friends who I can send a text or call to when having a bad day and without even having to ask know they will be in prayer for me. I need the friends who will continue to speak life. I need the friends who know what the Word says and remind me of God’s truth. I need those friends because I can’t go through life without them. I need those friends because when I have been waiting 3.5 years for babies and have been grieving the loss of my nephew I can’t do this life any other way.
So, my question to you today is who do you surround yourself with? Who are your friends? Are your friends encouraging you? Are they influencing you to be a better person? Most likely who you hang out with predicts how your future will be. You might be one friend away from changing your destiny. The choice is yours. Make sure you are surrounding yourself with people who will lift you up in a time of need and encourage you in your walk with Christ.
