Victim or Victor?

Victim or Victor?

Are you a victor or are you a victim? Maybe you aren’t even sure what the difference is. It doesn’t take long after spending time with someone to know what stance they take and I am sure by the time you finish this post, you will know for yourself too. Sometimes, not always, people with a difficult past or low self-esteem take the mentality of a victim. A victor takes the opposite stance and pursues a positive, hope-filled attitude.

So do you feel like everyone is against you? Do you always feel attacked? Do you perceive advice and help as accusations? Do you see your future as hopeless? Do you always try to blame everyone else? Do you feel like you are constantly being rejected? These are just a few examples of a victim.

But a victor! Isn’t that who we should all strive to be? Are you filled with hope for the future? Do you pursue freedom in all areas of your life? Do you seek to overcome your trials? Do you celebrate others’ wins? Do you pursue a Christ-like mind?

My encouragement to you? Seek the victory that Christ paid for. You don’t have to be bound to anything but him! Corinthians 15:57 says, “But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” When you put your hope and trust in Jesus you become a victor. Yes, that is right – you don’t have to let your past or current situation define you or your future. You choose which path you will take and which mentality you will pursue. So, are you a victim or a victor?
