Southern Caribbean Cruise – Part 1

Southern Caribbean Cruise – Part 1

Colby and I got back this past Sunday night from an 8 day cruise on the Carnival Breeze to the Southern Caribbean. This was my 4th cruise and Colby’s 3rd. Initially we were searching for an all inclusive trip to Mexico, but goodness, once we pulled up the cruise prices we decided it’s a deal that can’t be beat.

Two years ago we were on the Magic out of Galveston, and the Breeze was basically the same with some minor differences. Today I am sharing the first half of our trip!

Day 1 – 2 – Fly to Florida. Stay the night in Miami and set sail!

After flying to Ft. Lauderdale, we stayed the night in Miami and boarded the ship around noon the next day. We immediately ate (duh) and then hit the pools and watched the ship leave from the port. Leaving from Miami was much prettier than leaving from Galveston. That night we ended up on stage in the main theater for a competition. Well we won, and were gifted lots of fun freebies throughout the week! Such a gift from God!

Day 3 – Day at Sea

The sea days we basically do the same things… hit the gym, play dodgeball, wander around, and hang out by the adults only pool. That night we enjoyed our VIP seats that we had won the night before!

Day 4 – Grand Turk – Beach Day

We were off the boat by 7 am. In Grand Turk, you get off the boat and are at a beach which makes it very convenient. There are lounge chairs to use (for free) as well as two restaurants: Margaritaville which has a pool and if you walk a little further down you will arrive at Jack’s Shacks. If you do plan on staying at the beach, I recommend using the chairs in front of Jack Shacks because not only is the water less crowded, but your view won’t be overshadowed by the large ship. The water was absolutely gorgeous – so blue and crystal clear! We got to do some swimming and see some beautiful fish!

Did you even know underwater cameras still existed? The pictures don’t turn out great, but it was still fun to use!

Day 5 – Dominican Republic – Seavis Tour

This was my second time to the DR. This time around we did an excursion through Seavis called the VIP Sanoa tour. I highly recommend this tour if you are ever in the Dominican. You will need to take a taxi from the cruise port and then you will arrive at the boat dock. We then took speed boats over to a beach where they fed us and gave us unlimited drinks. Colby and I swam out to the dock to look at the fish and left shortly after to an area that they call the natural pools. Basically, we got to swim around and look at starfish. They passed out more food and drinks and we got to enjoy the beautiful water. This was probably my favorite part of the tour. After that we headed back to the dock where the taxis were waiting to bring us back to port.

More fuzzy underwater pictures from the tour including a selfie! That takes talent
