This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® & Road ID but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #roadid #RoadIDItsWhoIAm http://my-disclosur.es/OBsstV
I will never forget coming home from a bike ride 3 or 4 years ago very upset. I was training for my first triathlon and was trying to get in a ‘bike and run’ on that beautiful afternoon. But my plans didn’t go accordingly. While turning a corner on my bike, I saw a UPS truck coming at me. Immediately I slammed on my brakes which threw me off my bike and onto the ground, landing just 3 or 4 feet from the truck. Thankfully, besides being shaken up, I was okay. I left with a few bruises and minor bleeds, but was able to hop back on my bike to make it home.
It was around the same time that a co-worker, who also is very active, mentioned Road ID and over the years she has continued to nudge me to get one. She is a huge advocate of wearing ID because she has seen how often the riders in her biking group have needed their ID due to an accident or medial emergency. Whether she is going on a walk, a bike ride, or traveling to the other side of the world my co-worker always has hers on her wrist.
Well I am happy to say, that I finally got my Road ID. I personalized mine to include my full name, city and several emergency contacts. However, there are options to add medical information or allergies and other important details in case of an accident. Now, whenever I go outside for a workout, I can be sure that if I do have an accident, the ID would be on me as well as all necessary information in case the responders need to assist me.
I got the Slim band, but I also got a plate I can slide on any of my fitbit blaze bands too, which gives me flexibility and options depending on what activity I am doing that day. For a few dollars each, I realized I could purchase different colored bands for the Slim, so I went ahead and got 3 total. And, I added a triathlon plate to the band too. I love that they offer various forms of options including one to wear on your shoe, which I think will be next on my list to get.
No matter what band I wear, this has put Colby’s mind at ease as I have had one too many close calls while on my bike. Unfortunately where I live most drivers aren’t concerned with who is on the road and I have come home with too many stories of tense situations or almost-accidents. My personal experience combined with the fact that each year over 450,000 people are taken to hospitals unconscious and without ID is really what made Colby and I realize how important and necessary it is to have.
No matter if you are an athlete, travel around the world in unfamiliar places, have children who walk to school or have a medical condition, Road ID really is for everyone. The owner’s mission is to bring minds to ease and I know that the Road ID has done that for Colby.
