When Your Reality Doesn’t Match The Truth

When Your Reality Doesn’t Match The Truth

Have you ever realized that the Lord’s prayer says “your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10).” Why? Because God wants heaven’s kingdom to reign here on earth. But what happens when your current situation on earth is different than what the truth of God’s Word says?

For example, in the bible it says that none will be barren (Exodus 23:26). So why haven’t I had kids? In the bible it says “marriage is when two people are no longer two but one flesh. What God has joined together, let no man separate” (Matthew 19:6). So why is there divorce?

This list could go on and on and on again. So many people are living in realities that don’t line up with what God’s Word says. Which then gets confusing. If we are supposed to pray “on earth, as it is in heaven” then why don’t we always see the things of heaven here on earth? In other words, what happens when what you are going through doesn’t line up with what God’s Word says?

The gap between your current reality and the God’s Word is suffering. So what do you do? What do you do when you are going through infertility even though the Bible says none will be barren?

I first want to point out that suffering isn’t supposed to waste your time. It’s not supposed to tear you apart. In fact, it’s supposed to move your forward on your spiritual journey with Christ. Suffering is supposed to build perseverance, character and hope. Romans 5:3-5 says, “but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”

So how do you handle your time of suffering? Matthew 17:20 says, “He replied, “Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”  You must take a stance and remind your mountain in front of you what the truth says. Instead of settling for what the enemy wants or what your reality looks like, stand firm in what you know to be THE truth, God’s Word.

Will your reality change overnight? Maybe, but as in my case, not necessarily. For 5+ years I have been speaking to the mountain of infertility and it still hasn’t moved. But you know what has happened? My faith has grown. My relationship has deepened. My heart has been encouraged. My hope has been renewed.

Know that every time you speak to your mountain and it doesn’t move, the Lord is still doing something. Every command matters. Every prayer matters. Every ounce of hope that you have matters. It all matters

So are you going to let your reality, your trial and your suffering create hopelessness? Or are you going to take a stance, line your mind up with the truth and command the mountain in front of you to move, until you see it move?

I’m going to choose hope! I am going to choose to stand strong in what I know is THE truth until I see the truth manifest in my life. I am going to choose to command my mountain to move until it moves.

Keep reminding your reality of the truth until your reality becomes the truth. It might not happen overnight but the process of getting there doesn’t have to be a waste. It can be just as beautiful as the very truth you are waiting for.
