Proverbs 4:25-27 Look Ahead #139

I shared from Proverbs 4 last week and I am continuing in the same chapter this week. Proverbs 4:25-27 of the Passion Translation says, “Set your gaze on the path before you. With fixed purpose, looking straight ahead, ignore life’s distractions. Watch where you’re going! Stick to the path of truth, and the road will be safe and smooth before you. Don’t allow yourself to be sidetracked for even a moment, or take the detour that leads to darkness.”

Does anyone else get distracted or sidetracked by the busyness of life? Is it just me or does this happen each and every day? This verse tells us to gaze ahead as we stick to the path of truth! What might that path look like? It’s a path that is fixed on the Word of God. Everything in the Bible is truth so when your eyes are fixed on Him and His Word then you know you are on the correct path.

Have you ever taken the wrong route while driving and ended up lost? It’s always worse when it’s at night when it’s harder to see, right? Just as it’s never a peaceful feeling when you take the wrong route and end up in darkness, it’s the same with your walk with Christ. If you get distracted in the things in and of this world you will stray off the correct path which will lead you on a detour full of darkness. This world will inevitably lead you to getting sidetracked from the path the Lord has set before you.

Fix your eyes on Christ at all times. If you continue to follow the Lord and watch where you are going then the road before you will be safe and smooth! The choice is yours – you can choose the correct path which brings light or the detour which brings darkness. Which will you choose?
