I’m reading through the New Testament now and when I read over Romans 10:17, I knew I wanted to share it. It’s a verse I have wanted to post about for a long time now and reads, “Faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
If you spend most of your time listening to secular music, watching mainstream tv, spending time with people who have worldly views, then most liking your faith will be in this world. Soon your actions and words will follow worldly views too. If you spend your time with believers, listening to Christian music, watching wholesome programs (or not watching media at all), going to church, and reading the word, then you will operate in the faith realm. You will be more focused on the spiritual world then the earthly world.
We are called to hear the word, read the word, believe the word, and confess the word. But, we can’t believe and have faith in the word or Jesus without hearing and reading. Do you wonder why you have small faith? Why you are constantly negative? Why your problems seem too big to handle? Instead of focusing on this world, spend time in His word and as this verse says, you will have faith. Faith comes not by our five natural senses, but faith happens in the spiritual realm. If you make no time for Jesus, then you will have no faith.
Do you desire to become more like Christ? Do you want more fruit in your life? Do you want to see your faith rise up? Plant the word of God in your life. If you aren’t sure where to start, start with the new testament and read for a few minutes a day. Turn off the tv. Stop listening to the negative radio or shows and start listening to the truth and word of God. Faith isn’t going to be given to you – you will have to make a conscious decision and work towards it yourself. The best way you can spend your time is by spending it with Him.
