Memory Monday – Week 92

Lately I can’t stop reading Romans 8, especially the message version. I highly recommend it if you have never read it. I could probably share every verse in the whole chapter, but today I’m sharing Romans 8:18, “I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.”

Verse 17 says that Christians will suffer with Christ. When we are in Him, we will face trials. But, Paul who experienced tremendous suffering, way more than any of us have ever seen, points out in verse 18 that the suffering we will face doesn’t even compare to the glory and joy that is coming. Nothing we face here on earth compares to the price Jesus paid to save us and the joy that comes when we enter heaven.  But even before that day, a life surrendered to Him results in His power, presence, and gifts that help us and give us victories in our present struggles and trials.

When we face a trial, we have to weigh what we are going through now versus our glory in knowing Him more because of our suffering as well as our glory in heaven. During my recent races, I wanted to quit. I didn’t think I could make it, but the feeling when crossing the finish line totally outweighed the pain and discouragement from the race. Our hardships here on earth are the same way. Even though we can’t see it now, we can trust that the glory revealed will all be worth it.

Whatever you are facing, know that the pain is never too great and the trial is never too big. Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice for us to live and even though there are still trials, the suffering we go through for Christ while here on earth will all be worth it. Until that day, seek His face in every trouble you face.  His glory will be present in your life through his victorious and overcoming power.
