Memory Monday – Week 83

Memory Monday – Week 83

How many people try to plan out their future? Even if you don’t try, you might automatically start thinking about what the next few days, weeks, and months might look like. You plan vacations, you budget your upcoming expenses, you look forward to weddings, you talk about when you want to have children, etc. If you were anything like I was after college you thought you would get married within 1-2 years, have kids the following year and by the time you were 30 you would have a family of 5. I think my story is the perfect example that our human desires always fall under the sovereignty of God.

Proverbs 16:1 says, “People do the planning, but the end result is from the Lord.” As much as we try to plan the future, especially if you have a Type A personality like me, God writes the story. We can make plans, but most likely things won’t turn out quite how we expected.

What if we submitted our plans to Him? What if we made the most of each day and lived in the moment instead of always looking forward to the next big thing? After 3 years of waiting, I have learned that our plans are NOT going to happen on our timeline. Our timeline would have been in 2012 and here we are still waiting.

No matter how we plan or what we do to plan, the end result is up to Jesus. Instead of making your own plans and decisions surrender your will and allow Him to guide you every step of the way.
