Memory Monday – Week 6

Memory Monday – Week 6

This post is going to be short and sweet. We just got back in town and need to gear up for work tomorrow. But, I picked this verse based on my last sermon post regarding finding peace in the midst of a trial.

This verse takes place at the end of chapter 16 in John where Jesus sums up his message for all of the disciples. In this verse, Jesus offers His own peace, “… So that in me you may have peace…”.  He did not say you “will” have peace, but instead you “may” have peace. It is our responsibility as Christians to seek Him to find that peace. It’s not going to happen magically and it’s certainly not going to happen when we deny Him.

Jesus then says, “… In this world you will have trouble…” Many people think that becoming a Christian means a life full of roses, laughter, and freedom from pain, but this verse tells us that we will have trouble. He ends the verse by telling the disciples that He has overcome the world!

Through our trials we can continue to seek Him for peace, while we cling to the truth of the victory He has already won; overcoming the world! Amen
