I’m continuing on the theme of verses over the topic of healing. Today’s verse comes from Jeremiah 33:6. God made a promise of complete restoration while Babylonia was in the midst of a disaster. Not only for health and healing, but for peace and security too. Just as the Babylonian disaster did not change God’s purpose for His people, the trials we face don’t change God’s plan to bring us a child. Most people can say when they look back on their life, it seems that most of the blessings always come in the midst of a trial. I think while we are in the middle of the trial, He is wanting us to take our eyes off our struggle and to fix our eyes on Him, the only one who will bring us healing. We know God is bigger than any disaster or trial and He wants us to trust and believe Him while we are in the midst of them.
I also like a few verses prior to this one, “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know” – Jeremiah 33:3. God assures Jeremiah in this verse, that if Jeremiah calls and prays to Him, that He will answer. He wants to answer the desires of our heart. He just wants us to ask first. We shouldn’t expect to receive something, especially if we haven’t asked for it. Does God need us to ask Him? No, He is so much bigger then that. But, when we ask Him it shows Him that we care about Him, that we love Him, and that we can’t accomplish anything with our own strength. It ultimately proves our desperate dependence on Him.
