Luke 18:8 – Pray + Expect – #110

Luke 18:8 – Pray + Expect – #110

Luke 18 hits home for me because it is a parable on the persistence of prayer, and when I think of our prayers for babies, persistence is the word that comes to mind. The chapter starts off with Jesus encouraging the apostles to keep praying, to never stop, and to not lose hope. This blog post could end right there, because come on, that is a good word!! Did you read that? Don’t stop praying and don’t lose hope!

It gets better. In Luke 18:7-8 God says, “Don’t you know that God, the true judge, will grant justice to all of his chosen ones who cry out to him night and day? He will pour out His spirit upon them. He will not delay to answer you and give you what you ask for. God will give swift justice to those who don’t give up. So be ever praying, ever expecting.”

Remember that God not only desires to answer your prayers, but also loves to do so. When you pray and align your requests to His Word, He is on your side. If you haven’t received the answer to your prayer it is not because God’s mind needs to be persuaded or changed, but because God is doing a work in you.

God is the opposite of the judge in this parable because unlike the unjust judge, God is kind, compassionate, and has your best interest in mind. He is righteous and cares so deeply for you. He brings swift justice to those who don’t give up.

God wants you to come to Him with your prayers from a place of expectancy. He won’t delay your answer. He is a God of justice and will bring restoration to your situation. If it has been months or years, don’t stop asking. Stay persistent and expect the Lord to break through for you.
