John 7:38 Rivers of Water #160

John 7:38 Rivers of Water #160

Have you ever been super thirsty? Like to the point where it feels like you haven’t had water in days? Maybe I am a little dramatic about it, but this has happened to me on several occasions. In fact, it turns out most of the time we are hiking we don’t bring enough water and by the time we reach the car and find water I am guzzling it down.

I know how desperate I feel in the physical sense when I have been without water, but what about the spiritual sense? There are plenty of sources you can seek out to fill your thirst. Other people. Wealth. Fame. But, Jesus is calling you to come to him. John 7:37-38 says “On the last day of the feast, the greatest day, Jesus stood up and shouted out, ‘If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me, and Let the one who believes in me drink. Just as the scripture says, ‘From within him will flow rivers of living water.'” He is waiting for “anyone” who is thirsty to drink. Not a certain race, not a certain social class, not a certain gender or age. But God wants you, just as you are, to come to him for fulfillment.

God wants you to drink from him – meaning he wants you to come to him for all of your needs. Thirst. Hunger. Finances. Future. Whatever it is, he wants you to trust him in all things. He wants to fill the most basic needs you have. And when you believe in him and come to him, what happens? Rivers of living water will flow from within him.

Don’t you want God’s life to flow within you? Doesn’t it feel so good to be fully hydrated? Drink from him as you allow his life to flow through your body — you will feel quenched not just spiritually, but physically, emotionally, mentally and financially too. He is the source of life – not just any life, but “living” life.
