It’s All for Something

It’s All for Something

I had dinner with a friend the other night and as I was sharing a story she reminded me that God uses everything.

The pain. The tears. The heartache. The sickness. The loss. The bad news. The hard day.

It’s all for something. All of it.

Sure enough as I was looking at my draft folders I found a draft from March with the subject line, “It’s All for Something” and I knew it was time to write this post and publish it. Let me give you some background on why she reminded me of this truth. I was sharing with her about the anxiety I had experienced a few weeks ago (and how miserable it was) which I already mentioned briefly here. And just as I had realized the week before and just has she had reminded me again, it’s all for something.

As awful and as debilitating as it was, there was something so beautiful about what I went through. All of a sudden I was able to relate to what so many experience on a daily basis, anxiety. Over the week that I wasn’t feeling well I was shocked with how many people could relate, including many friends locally, but also so many in my Moms in the Making group. And the beautiful thing about it? Do you remember the blog post I recently shared about praying for the breakthrough you desire or need? Well guess what, I decided to pray over those who were going through the exact same thing I was. I hosted a live facebook video where I shared scriptures, encouraged them and prayed over them too. (saved here). And the best part? Ever since I prayed for those wanting healing from anxiety, I have been completely healed of all anxiety. After a week of hell where I could barely function, I am 99% back to myself again.

So my anxiety? It was all for something. It wasn’t from God, but he sure did use it in such a sweet way.

The story didn’t end there because just a few days later we had a new member attend our local Moms in the Making Group that meets at my house and she shared something that I’m not sure has ever been brought up before during our group. Just that morning she had experienced an anxiety attack. And the Lord reminded me again that my pain was all for something. To be able to relate to her meant everything to me, and hopefully something to her too.

God doesn’t let any pain go to waste. Bombings. Car wrecks. Infertility. Bankruptcy. Divorce. He uses it all.

So whatever you are going through or whatever you have been through, it’s all for something. You might not know what the something is until after you go through it and it doesn’t mean the pain you experience will be forgotten, but it does mean that he will redeem and restore it and someway, somehow, use it for good.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
