As some of you might have already heard or read, my father-in-law passed away this past Sunday, April 30th. We got a call on Friday that he had a stroke and quickly caught a flight to Kansas City, then drove to Nebraska to see him at the hospital. We spent the next two days with him in the hospital. He took his final breath Sunday night around 5:30 pm.
Obviously no one ever wants any situation like to happen. We are devastated and hurting, but are thankful because we know where he is now. Colby grew up in a small town in Marysville and I definitely got to see how his hometown rallied around when his father passed. It was such a joy to me to be around so much family (Colby has a huge family) and friends and hear so many amazing stories. It was incredible to see such love between friends and family and to hear everyone confirm what we already knew, Steve was a great man and impacted so many around him, from the youngest to the very oldest.
Admit-tingly, we know that after going through the motions of planning his service and having a revolving door, it will hit us now. I hate seeing my husband lose his dad and I hate seeing my mother-in-law lose her husband of 35 years. I couldn’t go without sharing a post of how amazing Steve was and I know, unfortunately, that I only got a short glimpse of that. I am so glad that so many had 64 years with him. But, whether it was short or not, I can say that I know our time together in heaven will be forever. Until that day, I am glad we have amazing memories to rememeber and pictures to look back on.
