It’s a little crazy that this is the third Mother’s Day that has passed that I have desired to be a mom, but am still waiting to be. A lot of girls in my same situation dread this day. Last year, for Mothers Day I wrote about finding contentment and focusing on all the blessings we do have, but this year I’m taking a different approach.
Although I’m not a mom yet, I know my time will come. Similar to Abraham, I have faith that God is going to do what He has promised. Even though the natural circumstances around us don’t show for it, we aren’t doing anything medically to help the chances, doctors told us it probably won’t happen, and it’s been over 800 days of waiting I’m stepping out in faith that although we don’t have children yet, I will be a mother soon. A mother of many children. Not only am I fully convinced that the Lord can make us joyful parents of many children, but I know He will. For He who has promised is faithful.
This kind of faith doesn’t seem normal. People have told me it makes them uncomfortable. As far as I’m concerned ‘normal’ in this world isn’t working. I’m glad to be considered different or weird. So call me crazy, but today I am seeking the light and choosing to thank the Lord for making me a mom. I’m walking not by what I can see or hear, but by faith (2 Corinthians 5:7)
This Sunday I celebrate Mother’s Day. I celebrate my mother, mother-in-law, my three amazing sister-in-laws, and all my friends that are mothers. And, I celebrate myself. For although I’m not chasing around kids, feeding them, and exhausted today – in my heart, that is exactly how I feel.
Happy Mother’s day to all – to those who are already mothers and those who desire to be mothers!
