Over the years I have read several books on the topic of fertility. While I have talked about a few in the past, today I wanted to share all of them in one post! I realize there are way more than what is listed here, but these are the ones I can offer my comments on! I would love to hear your thoughts if you have read them or hear any other books you suggest. While some of these are more scripture filled than others, they are all based on the Christian faith. If you are going to read any of them, the first two would be my top recommendations.
-
- Well, I will start out with mine, In Due Time Devotional. Shameless plug! It’s not specific to infertility, but it is a devotion for anyone going through a trial or waiting on the Lord.
- One of my favorite books is called a A Seed of Hope
by Evangeline Colbert (who I was so honored to meet in person). We read this book in our last Moms in the Making session. It’s formatted like a devotional and speaks truth straight from the word. Because of the format, it makes it easy to read one a day and keep your mind and heart focused on what God says regarding fertility.
- My other favorite is called God’s Plan for Pregnancy
by Nerida Walker. We read this book for our second session of Moms In the Making. This book is also all Scripture based and encourages you about God’s purpose for pregnancy and motherhood. If anyone doubts what the Lord has said about conception, I encourage you to read this book.
- It has been awhile since I have read this book, Pregnant with Hope
by Susan Radulovacki. This was the first book we ready for Moms In the Making. It is not as heavy on scripture as the other two, but from what I remember would be a great book for anyone who is struggling with conceiving or miscarriage. It talks about couples who pursue treatments, adoption, and other methods as well as shares real stories throughout the book.
- I’m so glad someone recommended Supernatural Childbirth by Jackie Mize to me. It’s a radical book about one ladies story and how she applied scripture to her barrenness, pregnancy, and childbirths. There are great scripture declarations and testimonies as well. It’s a very quick read and I highly recommend it whether you are going through infertility or already pregnant.
- My friend Lisa wrote 31 Days of Prayer which I highly recommend. This is a fabulous scripture based book that will help you connect with the Lord.
- We just started reading Barren Among the Fruitful
by Amanda Haley for our current Moms in the Making session. I hadn’t heard of it, but someone recommended it on instagram. We are just a few chapters in, so I don’t feel comfortable sharing a review, but I will say it’s different than what I thought it would be. I was told it would be heavily weighed on scripture, and so far the focus seems to be more weighed on the infertility diagnosis. Not a bad thing, but just not as expected!
- Hannah’s Hope
by Jennifer Sake was the first book I ever read on the topic of infertility. It walks through all stages of infertility as well as guides you through the journey. The book is based on the story of Hannah in 1 Samuel.
- Every Bitter Thing Is Sweet
by Sara Hagerty is not an infertility book, but Sara touches on her story of infertility quite a bit as she discusses God’s presence during her trials.
