Bowl of Prayers

Bowl of Prayers

I have had days or perhaps at times it’s more like seasons of my life where I feel like maybe I have done too much praying. Will one more prayer really make a difference? 6 years of believing, asking, contending and desiring for something will leave most people, including me, questioning whether their prayers were even heard.

Colby and I attended a conference a few weeks ago and there was something one of the speakers said about prayer that really struck a chord with me. This speaker too had been praying and contending for something regarding a healing for a long time. She shared that the very thing she was praying for she continued to see God heal in so many other people’s lives (can anyone relate)? But when she approached God and asked him why he hadn’t healed her yet, she heard Father spoke to her and I just love what he told her. It was so precious that I thought it would be good to share with someone else who needs to hear it, just as I did that day.

Father’s response was that if we saw it how he saw it we would look at it completely different. He said he doesn’t get tired or worn out by your prayers. Instead, he told her that there are bowls everywhere in heaven and every prayer you pray fills a bowl. These bowls are sitting on the throne with him. Eventually your prayers will make the bowl tip and you will receive the breakthrough that you have been waiting and asking for.

Now, don’t quote me on God’s response, please! None of the above was exact, but hopefully it drives a point. Every prayer matters! And, isn’t it so humbling and amazing to think our prayers are with him! He hears them and he remembers them and he values them!

Let’s quickly look at what scripture says about prayer:

“And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” 1 John 5:14-15

“And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.” Matthew 21:22

“For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer.” 1 Peter 3:12

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24

“If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” John 14:14

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.” James 1:5

“Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Matthew 7:7

“But truly God has listened; he has attended to the voice of my prayer.” Psalm 66:19

This scriptures are just a small glimpse on the topic of prayer in the bible. But if you are someone who is wondering if you should pray or not pray they all point to, “keep praying.” I hope as you study what God’s Word says about prayer and remember the bowl visual, it encourages you that every time you pray it goes directly to the throne room. Your prayers are filling up a bowl and one day that bowl will tip and you will receive the breakthrough you are have been asking for.
