Let’s imagine that someone gave you a $1,000,000 check. $1,000,000! Can you just imagine? What if instead of depositing the check you just left it in a drawer and never touched it?
No one would ever do that, right? Well, at least I hope not.
But, do you realize that is the exact same thing we do with God? He suffered a very brutal death on the cross; he was beat and he was tortured. And he did it all for you and for me. Yet so often we act as if it were all for nothing.
I can’t tell you how often lately I have thought to myself or said to a friend, “I want to access all God has.” Because here is some truth for you, I have access to all of it, but that doesn’t mean I always access it. Right? There is definitely a big difference between the two.
Ephesians 1:11 says, “We are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.”
God has an abundant inheritance for every believer. The most important inheritance of course, is heaven; we get to spend eternity with Jesus. And although this is something God has offered to everyone, it’s an inheritance that so many people will miss out on because they won’t say yes to the most important decision we are all faced with.
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.” Ephesians 1:3
But it goes way beyond heaven, because God has so much for us now. He has blessed us with ”every spiritual blessing.” And going back to what he did on the cross; he didn’t die on the cross for us to live in lack, but he died so we could live in abundance.
But are you? Are you accessing the abundant life he has for you? Are you operating with a victorious mindset? Are you living from the standpoint that he paid for it all on the cross? Are you acting like you are God’s co-heir (Romans 8:17)? And the fruits of the Spirit? Have you accessed those: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control?
God’s Word is full of promise after promise. He is an abundant and extravagant God and you have access to all of him and all of his promises. Scripture after scripture details this out as it tells us who God is, who he wants to be for us and what he wants to do for us. All of it is for you.
You don’t have to live in fear. You don’t have to live in pain. You don’t have to live operating as a victim. You don’t have to live in bondage. Everything you will ever need or want, including your full inheritance, is right in front of you. But are you accessing it?
