A Miracle Baby

A Miracle Baby

A miracle baby. Not my baby. I wish. But, a miracle baby. The most important miracle baby of all. Way more important than our babies ever will be.

Jesus!

A baby that came to the most unlikely person, at the most unlikely place and in the most unlikely way. You would think that the greatest miracle of all would have come in the most magnificent way, but that wasn’t the case.

“While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,  and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.” Luke 2:6-7

Joseph and Mary were ordinary people, just like you and me, but God chose them to birth the Savior. He didn’t choose the highest ranked or the most glamorous. He didn’t choose the birth to happen in the most well known city or the fanciest house.

Personally, I have often dreamt and thought of how our miracle would take place. My mind has gone there more times than not and I tend to think it will happen on a “special day.” But nothing was special or perfect about how Jesus came. It wasn’t how anyone imagined it to be. After all, Jesus was born to a carpenter and an unwed teenager. He was born in a manger to ordinary people in an ordinary place.

This story of the birth of Jesus on Christmas day should remind you that your miracle might not look, feel or seem perfect. But trust me, it will be perfect when it happens, just like the miracle of Jesus. Even on the days when are feeling weak, inadequate, insignificant, poor and undeserving, you are in the perfect place for a miracle.

God doesn’t need perfect circumstances to do a miracle in your life. As you celebrate the birth of Jesus this weekend, know that God loves to peform miracles. Whether you are believing for a baby or something different, God will come in at the perfect time and the perfect place to bless you with your miracle.
