A King Like This

Christmas is exactly one week away and I can’t help but think of our King as the days are nearing. I have already mentioned how much I love the Advent season as we anticipate and celebrate Jesus. What always amazes me about the birth of Jesus is there was nothing special about His arrival into this world.

Joseph and Mary were ordinary people, just like you and me, but God chose them to birth the Savior. Not only was there nothing glamorous about either of them, but there was certainly nothing high class about Jesus being born in a manger. It’s so easy to believe the lie that everything around us has to be perfect, but nothing was with the birth of Jesus. A manger. A carpenter. An unwed teenager. And, a small town named Bethlehem. It was an ordinary place, with ordinary people. Joseph and Mary did nothing to deserve the honor, but God chose them

This story of the birth of Jesus on Christmas day should remind you that even when you feel weak, inadequate, insignificant, poor and undeserving, you are in the perfect place for a miracle. Whatever you are facing today, how can you focus your heart and mind on the promise of God during this season? God wants to birth a miracle in your Bethlehem.

Spend this Christmas lifting your eyes up to the light. Your circumstances around you might be dark, but Jesus is always shining. I love this song by Chris Tomlin, and I hope you too enjoy praising a wonderful King like Jesus!

A King Like This

A King like this, majesty
Laying in a manger
A King like this
Unto us is born a Savior
The Light, the Light has come
A King like this, the highest
Name and the song of heaven
A King like this born of
Flesh into our suffering
The Light, the Light has come

He is Christ, the Lord
He is Christ, our Savior
I bow my heart before no other name
I bow my heart before no other King

A King like this, a saving
Love that would not forsake us
Betrayed by a kiss and led
To the cross for our forgiveness
The Light, the Light has come

He is Christ, the Lord
He is Christ, our Savior
I bow my heart before no other name
I bow my heart before no other King

He is Christ, the Lord
He is Christ, our Savior
I bow my heart before no other name
I bow my heart before no other King

A King like this, a throne of grace
That will stand forever
The angels sing glory, glory, hallelujah
The Light, the Light has come
The Light, the Light has come
