Psalm 25:4 Life Paths #157

Who wants to know what path they are supposed to take? Don’t we all desire more guidance, especially when the tougher decisions come up? Psalm 25:4 Passion Translation says, “Lord, direct me throughout my journey, so I can experience your plans for my life. Reveal the life-paths that are pleasing to you.” Much simpler put is the NIV translation which says, Show me your ways, Lord, teach me your paths.”

I love scripture because at the times in life when it’s so hard to know what to pray, I don’t have to come up with the words myself. The Lord has given us his Word to pray. Shouldn’t these words come out of my mouth every day? “Lord, direct me throughout my journey, so I can experience your plans for my life.”

Are you seeking God for his plans or are you seeking others? While there is nothing wrong with asking others for guidance, make sure the advice you receive is biblical and lines up with the Word of God. When you do what God and his Word say, then just as this verse says, you will bring pleasure to him.

If you are feeling lost or unsure of which direction to take, seek the Lord and expect that he will guide you in his timing. If you have asked and still feel without direction, remember God might be keeping you in the season he has you in for a reason. In addition, sometimes God is silent because he trusts you and wants you to make the decision yourself. If you have sought him and haven’t heard much, but are filled with peace, trust that when you make a Godly decision you are on the path he has set out before you!

Excellent point that sometimes God is silent, I think He gives us the wisdom to make some decisions and then sort of sits back and let’s us take the course we choose. After all, we do have free will to choose and we would lose that free will if God made all our decisions for us. Love the NIV translation, so simple and easy to understand.

I love when you said “because at the times in life when it’s so hard to know what to pray, I don’t have to come up with the words myself. The Lord has given us his Word to pray.” I have gone to him with tears streaming down my face and all I could do was repeat His words back to him. His ways are not our ways, and trusting His plan can be hard but oh are his words comforting to the soul!

Love this! There have been a lot of times, especially recently, that I’ve been stuck between paths and wondering which way to go. So thankful that God is always there to lead me.

I used to struggle with what I want to do with my life for about a year but then I just tried out different things that interest me and have just coasted. I feel like its easier to just coast then worry.

It doesn’t always happen over night though! lol This post speaks to me, girl! I am still in that weird uncomfortable transition from being in control of my life to trusting God and giving my life completely to Him. It’s rough because we don’t always get a clear and cut path He lays for us. We have to be patient and wait for Him to show us at just the right moment. This is such a great post!

    Thanks for the encouragement!

Psalm 119:105 came to mind, that God’s Word is a lamp to our feet. I appreciate that you mentioned at the end that not “hearing” from God could be His way of telling us to hold tight.

God never promises reasons or answers the way we expect them. Sometimes His reasons and answers come years after our questions. He does promise His presence in the midst of our questions and pain. I admire your faith in the midst of such a painful grief of not being able to have a biological child. I will continue to pray He answers your cry. Just be careful not claim promises that are not of Him. Praise God He promises never to leave you or forsake you!!
