Memory Monday 99 - Psalm 16 - In Due Time Blog

Memory Monday – Week 99

I love the song, We Won’t Be Shaken, by building 429 and Psalm 16:8 reminds me of it – “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”

In this passage David made a decision to fix His eyes on the Lord and pursue Him. The text says his eyes were ‘always’ on the Lord. Not sometimes or every once in awhile – but His eyes were always looking toward God. We have to make the effort to do the same. We can’t expect God to reveal Himself to us if we aren’t looking towards Him.

When we fix our eyes on Christ, who is always close to us and always available, we will never be shaken. Will we face trials? Yes. But, if our eyes are fixed on Jesus it won’t rattle us. Instead of viewing God through our circumstances, we need to view our circumstances through God’s perspective. That way, no matter what trials come, we won’t crumble. If our foundation is built on Him and His word, then nothing will be too strong to shake us.

We are able to experience God’s wrap-around presence every moment of the day. He’s always at our right hand. Make God your focus. Make Him your priority. The reward if you do? No matter what you face – when Jesus is on your side – you will not be shaken.

I just noticed this is your 99th Memory Monday post!!! Almost 100! This is an almost milestone for you!! Thank you for always persevering and bringing encouragement to our inboxes every Monday. Mondays are so hard to plow through sometimes, and I always know that there will be a bright spot from you to lift my spirits! I’m sure they are just as difficult for you as they are everyone else, but even during your darkest days, you were so consistent to keep others encouraged and to point their eyes towards Him and His Word. So grateful for you and your faithfulness to our Lord, Caroline! 🙂 Your labors are not in vain.

Thank you, Caroline! I needed this reminder in a time when I’ve let my relationship with God go a bit lately. P.S. I’ll be staying at the Dallas/Ft. Worth Hilton the first week of August.

Definitely something I need to remember on a daily basis. Especially here lately… I find when I don’t think about Him being in control I am much more stressed!

This is my favorite part of the song:

    You know my every longing
    You’ve heard my every prayer
You’ve held me in my weakness
    Cause You are always there
So I’ll stand in full surrender
It’s Your way and not my own
My mind is set on nothing less
    Than You and You alone
I will not be moved oh

And yes, so important to always have our eyes fixed on Him and not just when it’s convenient for us. This is such a great reminder, friend!

I don’t think I’ve heard that song, but the words certainly spoke to me. Trying to keep my eyes on David. Like David, I want to be a friend to God.

I wish I could say that I’m never shaken, but it would be a lie. However, I can say my eyes are always fixed on Jesus, and He keeps me grounded. I know with Him, I can handle whatever comes my way. I do love that song.

Love this song too–one of my favorites. I love to proclaim this over myself, because I know as a child of God that Satan has his eyes on me and will be doing what he can to shake my faith. I have found myself asking Jesus like the apostles did in Luke 17:5 to increase my faith. He always delivers when I make my heart ready. (Yeah, I’ll be singing this song the rest of the day. LOL.)
    Blessings,

I really liked what you said about not being able to see God’s revelations if we’re not looking toward Him. Thanks for this short, sweet post that’s chockful of truth.

Amen! I love your post. Very powerful and moving! “Seek first the kingdom of God”. I think the moment we start to stress and we start to panic is the moment that we lose sight of God. When we focus our heart and faith on Him, we need not worry because He will always find a way.
