Memory Monday Bible Verse - John 8

Memory Monday – Week 95

It’s been awhile since I have shared a Monday memory verse and I must admit I have missed it. I love the time during the week where I can delve further into scriptures.

Today I am sharing John 8:32 which says, “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” This follows verse 31 which tells us to abide in God’s teachings. We can’t know the truth and receive freedomย unless we abide in Him and His word. When we follow God and spend time in His word, then we receive freedom. The more truth we know, the more free we become. As I talked about on Friday, it’s about having a spiritual relationship with Jesus – moving away from bondage and legalism and moving towards a life modeled after Jesus.

We can’t just know the truth, but we have to live it out. It does no good if what we know in our minds doesn’t translate to actions and thoughts. While it’s important to study and spend time in the word, we must also model the truth throughout our lives.

Every one of us has access to freedom of Christ. This freedom isn’t going to magically show up. We can’t buy it. We can’t just hope it comes. The ball is in our court and it’s up to us to pursueย it. When we spend time in His word and with Him the truth will be revealed. The more truth we know, the less lies we will believe which in turn helps us get free. There is nothing better than being free in Christ. Abide in Him and His truth will set you free.

This is a wonderful verse that has become more real to me over the years. Sometimes, the truth is not what we want to hear, because it crosses some part of us or our lives. But, it is always the very key to our freedom, as you said, even in those situations where is not the easiest thing to hear. Thank you for sharing your heart here, Caroline! ๐Ÿ™‚

I love my devotional time. When the Holy Spirit brings scripture to life for me that is key to my walk – something I’ve been struggling with that will change my life – it is such an incredible feeling. This verse, John 8:32, is brought to life.

I can’t even tell you the number of times I have realized how true this verse is. I should save it somewhere to see it as a daily reminder.
