Memory Monday – Week 87

Psalm 68 reflects on the glory and power of the Lord. Psalm 68:19 says, “Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.”

Can you praise God when you are facing difficulties? The preceding verse says that when we trust and praise Him, we overcome evil (Psalm 68:18). I love that this verse starts off with praising the Lord because there is so much power when we do so. It shuts out room for complaining when we focus on the blessings and positive things in our life and praise Him despite the circumstances we are facing.

The second part of this verse says that God daily bears our burdens. A burden is defined as a load, especially a heavy one. Often times, we choose not to go to Him when life seems heavy and overwhelming, but He is the one person who knows and understands ALL of what we are going through. He invites us to come to Him and walk the hard times. He wants to carry our burdens as we walk through trials. He desires for us to approach Him and ask Him for help each and every day. This isn’t something we do once and move on, but it should be a daily act on our part.

What burdens do you have today? Have you asked God to carry them for you? This verse doesn’t mean that He will automatically take all of our problems away, but it does promise that He will help us and be near to us while we face them “For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”  Matthew 11:28-30

I absolutely how it calls us to praise Him first! In everything, we are to always praise Him first 🙂

Yep… doesn’t mean they go away, but he helps BEAR them… I BEAR a lot in a day. Glad to have Him take some of it for me.

No burdens (thanks to Him) but he listens to a long list of thank you for my blessings recently. Great post Caroline! 🙂

    I love this Caroline!

Yes, I’m learning to praise the Lord even in the midst of trials. I find the best way to do so is to sing worship songs to Him.

I’m so thankful He bears our burdens too.

    Thanks for sharing.
    xoxo
