Memory Monday – Week 70
I got Lasik surgery on Thursday and before my procedure, my friend Melanie called me to pray for me. While on the phone, she talked about ‘seeing’ with not only new physical eyes, but praying and believer for new spiritual eyes as well.
As I think about what it means to ‘see’ without glasses or contacts, it makes me think of 2 Corinthians 5:17, which says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” When we accept Jesus as our Savior and become a Christian, we are a new creation. We aren’t defined our judged by our past, but we are made new in Him. We are blessed with new spiritual eyes.
This verse says, ‘anyone’. It isn’t referring to a select group of people. It’s not limited to just some people, but the invitation is open to anyone. No matter what race, background, past, ethnic class, socioeconomic class, etc – you are invited to be a new creation.
God doesn’t want to stop at the new creation that happens when you follow Him. He is a God that continues to make all things new! Being a new creation doesn’t mean that we are perfect, but that we are changed. It’s a continual refining process. Keep seeking Jesus and allow him to continue to refine you to be more like Him – He will keep making all things new.
