Memory Monday – Week 52

The command to ‘be strong and courageous‘ is used several times throughout the bible. After the death of Moses at the end of Deuteronomy, Joshua 1 starts off with the Lord speaking commands to Joshua. Joshua became Israel’s leader and was in charge of leading more than two million people into a strange, new land and was given the task of defeating the armies. He had quite the challenge to face. Today I’m sharing a command that the Lord gave Joshua in Joshua 1:9, This is my command–be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.

Although our battles looks much different than Joshuas – we will all face battles and trials here on earth. If you haven’t already, there will be days where you feel afraid and weary, not knowing how it will be possible to get through another day. But, we are told in Joshua 1:9 to not be discouraged, for the Lord is with us.

Strength and courage won’t come from us, especially when in the midst of a battle or a trial, but it will come from the Lord. Whatever you are facing today, put your confidence in Him. Ask Him for strength, courage, and energy to face the day ahead. Trust that He is with you no matter where you are or what you are doing.

Such comforting words and such a gentle reminder, Caroline! It is amazing how much it boosts us to hear someone else say, “Be strong”. Even though we don’t feel we can, just knowing they think we can is such an encouragement, and it seems to call forth strength we didn’t know we had. God sees that inner strength, because He placed it there within us in the first place. Through Him, we can do all things. What a blessing and comfort to know this! So happy for your dear words…they were timely and necessary and anointed…as always. So thankful to have you in my life. 🙂

It’s easier to tell someone else they need to be strong that we forget we need to be strong as well.

I am so glad that he is with us wherever we go! I’m leaning on Him and trusting so much with this donor cycle and it is refreshing not to try to control things. Great reminder.

Hi Caroline, Even when we try to put up a bold front, we end up running away if we don’t have God by our side, right? I remember the actual change in me when I learned to trust in God; that I could be strong and courageous because He was right there with me, and that He goes before me in all things. It was a great feeling.

This post came at the perfect timing. I’ve had a very hard 2 weeks of loss/death, and sometimes it’s hard to know how to put one foot in front of the other. Thanks for this beautiful reminder, and for pointing out scripture that spoke so clearly to my heart!

Amen girl! The Lord will fight for us if we just stay still and ask. So hard to remember in daily life, but as always, He is so kind to us all!

i’m reading susie larson’s “your beautiful purpose” and the first chapter is all about setting aside fear and doubt and discouragement and accepting that God has a unique plan for you. if you believe in the plan, there isn’t any reason to be worried – you can take strength knowing you’re exactly where He wants you to be.

I was just studying this yesterday! I was reading in Joshua 1 and found it neat how encouraging God was to Joshua, telling him 3 times in just the first chapter to be strong and courageous! Even the people told Joshua at the end of the chapter to be strong and courageous! I love that God is so encouraging.

Wow… as much as I read the Bible, it”s amazing when someone highlights something powerful for you. How many times have I read this but never really put it to heart. Such a great scripture to meditate on.

Thanks for sharing (and for linking up to the SHINE Blog Hop).
