Memory Monday – Week 44
I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter weekend celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Today I’m sharing John 11:25-26, Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Although to some it might seem like Easter is an annual celebration focused on Easter egg hunts and good food, that is not the case. It is something we should celebrate every day – the life we have gained because of the death and resurrection of Christ.
In this verse, Jesus was speaking to Martha and Mary. Jesus was making a statement that not only does He give life, but He is life. When people believe in Him, they get to share in the same resurrected life – which defeats all death. Death is nothing to fear, because it’s already been defeated on the cross. I posted about John 11 last year and was reminded when I went back to read it that no matter what situation we are facing it doesn’t have to be a dead end. Jesus can bring life to anything with His resurrection power.
At the end of the verse the challenge Jesus gives Martha is that of belief. The hope is that our answer echos Marthas in verse John 11:27, ”Yes, Lord; I Believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, who is come into the world”. One day soon, for those who have put their trust, faith, and belief in Jesus Christ will see the glory of God and spend eternity with him.
