Jesus Calling #15

It has been awhile since I have shared a Jesus Calling post, but when I read the one posted below I knew I had to share. Like so many devotionals, scriptures, songs, and sermons right now, this really spoke to me. I feel like the first paragraph is very much how I am feeling; just when I thought life was hard, it got so much harder. There are days that I am able to cope better than others, but I know no matter how I am coping that Jesus is with me. And, just like the second paragraph says we are to pour out our heart to Him! Whether it’s joy, anger, sadness, etc – he wants to hear it! While in this trial I am going to continue to cling to Him, read His word, praise Him, and trust that He will redeem our heartaches and losses. I hope this blesses someone today. It is from the perspective of Jesus talking to us:

I want you to learn the secret of being content in any and every situation (Philippians 4:12). Contentment-training is a challenging process; it is learned through enduring a wide range of difficulties. You thought you were fairly advanced in this training, but then the circumstances in your life got harder. On some days you are able to cope well with your hardships. On other days you just want out! I am here to help you with your ”other days.”

Begin by acknowledging how frustrated and upset you are feeling. Pour out your heart to Me (Psalm 62:8)! Simply releasing your pent-up feelings does you a world of good. Knowing that I hear and understand encourages you even more. Ask Me also to increase your awareness of My Presence with you. Continue talking to Me and listening in the depths of your spirit for My response. Cling to helpful scriptures; bathe your mind and heart in them. Finally, sing praises to Me. This will lift your spirits like nothing else. It is good to sing praises to My Name; to declare My lovingkindness in the morning, and My faithfulness every night (Psalm 92:1-2).

Precious post, Caroline! Oh, my heart goes out to you so much! So many times the sweet Holy Spirit brings you to my mind, and I pray for you. I know he is with you in this very difficult storm, and one day, He will bring the sunshine again. Until then, rest in His arms and let Him do the walking, as He holds you close. Love and appreciate you and sending hugs your way!

I often think about posting readings from my Jesus Today book. I really should! This one is so great, Caroline! Contentment is so tough…it’s something that I constantly say I am working towards but never feel like I get there. Maybe I’m trusting my own efforts too much rather than asking God to help me get there. I needed these words today!

I love this, Caroline. I missed this day in ‘JC’, but this was exactly on my heart this week – pouring out your heart to Him. It definitely was exactly what I needed…just felt like I was carrying the burden alone and I needed to unload on Him. And He KNOWS anyway!!! He’s a safe place (a refuge) for all we are feeling. Thanks for passing this on!! Needed this today!!! xo

I love how easy it makes it as steps…acknowledge, know that I understand, continue talking to me/listening, read scripture, sing praises. Done! Love that!

You are such an inspiration, Carline. I love Jesus Calling…it’s the best. I think you should write your own devotional book. You’d be fantastic.
