Hebrews 11:6 – Have Faith #107

If you are struggling with your faith, I highly recommend reading Hebrews 11, known as the faith chapter. I am not sure how I have made it 106 weeks without sharing Hebrews 11:6, but now is the time! It says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Faith is having complete trust and confidence in God. There is no sugar coating the importance of faith that this verse conveys. Without faith it is impossible to please God. It’s not half-way possible, or maybe possible, but it is impossible! If you don’t believe and have faith in God, then you aren’t pleasing to Him (ouch). Not only do you need to believe that He exists, but as this verse says you must also believe that He will reward you for following Him.

It’s not always easy, but the only way to please God is to get out of your comfort zone and take a step of faith. It’s not always going to make sense. Actually, most of the time it won’t make sense because if it made sense, then it isn’t faith. Just as hope that is seen isn’t hope (Romans 8:24), faith that is seen isn’t faith. So if you could see God, then you wouldn’t need faith, which is why it’s so important to Him. As your father, He wants to know that you believe He is who He says He is and that He will do what He says He will do.

You have to step out of the boat, just like Peter did, to find out what He has in store for you. If you don’t take that first step then you are going to miss out on all the blessings in store. Expect God to reward your faith! If something is holding you back, ask Him to remove the fear and to step forward in the abundant life He has for you.

Faith brings your hope into reality and it becomes the foundation needed to acquire the things you long for. It is all the evidence required to prove what is still unseen.” Hebrews 11:1

My favourite translation of 11:1 is “Now faith is assurance in what we hope for, and confidence in what we do not see.” Assurance and confidence in our amazing God. Thanks for this great reminder.

So true! I love how faith is active but inactive – having to trust much more than “doing” which is my inclination. Thanks for sharing!

Oh, my word, Caroline! This brought me to tears!! Everything you said here just hit nerve after nerve, in light of our current situation. It is exactly what I needed to hear, and I just prayed the exact prayer you suggested that God would remove this fear from me and help me to step out in faith to the abundant life He has ahead of us. It is SO hard to leave our comfort zone, but lately God has been bringing Abraham to me over and over again. I just feel that if I can plow through my fear, there is something wonderful waiting on the other side of this journey. Please do keep us in your prayers, if we come to mind…I know you will understand, per our emails. Thank you every so much for being obedient to God, sweet friend…I appreciate you so much!

Hebrews is such a powerful book. So much truth there. Acting on our faith and really placing our faith in the Lord is something I have struggled with but I’m getting better.

I love scripts that explain HOW the Kingdom of Heaven works. I heard it said that Faith is the currency of Heaven.
