God is Good

God is Good

God is good.

He is good, right now, in the waiting, he is good.

He is good in the pain. He is good in the loss. He is good in the heartache.

He is a good, good Father.

He is good, always. He isn’t just good when I get what I want. He isn’t just good when life is going my way. He isn’t just good when he answers my prayers, but he is always good.

He is good when life doesn’t make sense. He is good when I am angry with him. And even when I don’t understand him? He is good.

God is good. I am declaring this now, in this very moment. I am declaring this now, after waiting 4.5 years for my miracle. I am declaring this now, even though I am tired of waiting.

Because you see, God’s goodness isn’t dependent on the circumstances around me, but it is dependent on his character. It’s not dependent on him bringing me a baby, but it is dependent on who he is.

He is a loving, forgiving, faithful father, who has blessed me beyond what I deserve. And if there is one thing that I know, it is that he is always good. Are you able to declare that today? Don’t wait until he answers your prayers, but spend time in worship and praise and today, declare that he is good.

“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.” Psalm 107:1

Thanks for this, Caroline. I needed this reminder today. He is good and loves us even when we can’t always see it! This is a good word heading into the new year.

I totally agree Caroline, He is good ALL of the time. There were moments I felt alone and abandoned before I learned that even in times of despair, God is still good.

Not dependent on the circumstances around me… that is so powerful.

Amen! Thank you for this! This year I have put out out a jar with the Bible verse “You are good and do good” (Psalm 119:68) on it and every day I am writing on a little piece of paper one good thing God did that day and putting it in the jar to read at the end of the year what a God good He is and what a good year it was, but really I could and should just fill it with His attributes!!

It helps me to remember that God is good, because sometimes it doesn’t feel like it. I recall the past and the bigger picture and I know that He is. Because of that, I trust He has a reason and a purpose. He wouldn’t just deny us our requests to be mean. He loves us.

God is good, so good! To see His goodness in the thick of our pain and waiting, is a way to praise Him and bring glory to His name.

Often I struggle with believing God’s goodness because I don’t see the practical good He does; “just” the spiritual good. Thus my Bible has many underlined verses about God’s goodness! Both who He is (a lot in Psalms) and what He does (such as Matthew 7:9-11). Reminding myself of these verses, praising Him for both His goodness and the good He does (“Praise Him for His mighty deeds; praise Him according to His excellent greatness!” Psalm 150:2), and a habit I started on Jan 1 (thinking of one good thing that happened every day, jotting it on a bit of paper, and putting it in a jar to remind myself of His goodness at the end of the year) all help in solidifying the truth to me that God is good all the time!! Thanks for this post!
