Father's Way - Father's Day

Father’s Way

Today, Colby is sharing His thoughts on seeking the Father’s Way while waiting to become a dad.

The world and our culture tell subtle lies that imprison us, but God’s truths, spoken and recorded in the Bible, offer us freedom and true life.

“Mom price-index” articles, typically rehashed as a news story every Mother’s Day, attempt to put a monetized value on the role. “Look how appreciated and valued you are!” With a quick search, I was able to find the male counterpart articles that add up men’s landscaping, security, waste management, plumbing, and mechanic dollar value. The well-meaning gesture seems to border on a back-handed, “see, you ARE important.”

The things that we do (or don’t do) don’t determine our value. All men and women are equally valuable because they are created in God’s image. When we rejected God and turned away from him, he sent his son Jesus to die in our place for that sin, so that we could be redeemed and restored to a relationship with him. God values and loves us that much.

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. – Genesis‬ ‭1‬:‭27‬

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.” – John‬ ‭3‬:‭16-17‬

Happy Father’s Day to all the men who have an unexpected wait until their time to enter fatherhood. Know that you are valued by God. Look to Him for your strength in this time, and be strong and compassionate for your wife. People’s character is revealed when they don’t get things their way, right when they want them. Be content and joyful in all the good things that you ARE blessed with right now, but passionately and urgently seek God with your wife for the children you desire. Ensure that He is always the greatest desire of your heart. Seek His way and His will. I will be praying for all those who read this post or blog, that many will know the amazing love of our Father in heaven, and that he will bless us with the pregnancies and children we seek! – Colby

Blessings to you and your hubby on this great adventure to parenthood. My “daddy” is technically a step-dad but as God would have it – He IS my daddy. And I am a daddy’s girl. He brought us together when I was 11 and I am so blessed. God has a plan for all of us – dad’s, kids, steps ….. Thanks for sharing 🙂

Thank you both for this blog post. I read it aloud to my husband as we deal with another “no” month. Your prayers are appreciated as we go through this weekend. We are praying for you both as well.

Waiting for God’s timing isn’t always easy, but it is always perfectly right. I had a LONG wait to be a mom. And now I couldn’t imagine any other outcome for my life. She is the perfect child to bring me closer to God, bring out the best in me and the things that need to be refined. Your husband (and you) are being heard. I don’t know what your outcome will be, but I was Hannah, pouring out my heart and I will pray for your family.

People’s character is revealed when they don’t get things their way, right when they want them. <— that definitely convicted me! I can be very impatient. Thanks for sharing, and I will be praying that you can celebrate Father's Day with your own little one soon!

Funny how God makes us wait so we can develop patience and reliance on him. The only way to get there is to go through it. Wonderful post pointing men in the right direction no matter where they are at as they walk through this life.

Great words, Colby! It is interesting to hear your perspective. Before my husband and I even began trying to have children, some people in our family unfortunately made us feel as though our worth lies in the number of children we have. And since we don’t have any yet, we have no worth. It is really hurtful, but knowing that God created us in His image is such a comfort and brings peace. Thanks for sharing!
