Desert Song

I have been listening to “Desert Song” a lot lately! I love all the lyrics, especially, “In every season, You are still God.” According to 1 Peter, in order for God to strengthen us and purify our hearts for Him, He puts us through trials. However, during the trials, God is still with us. He will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). He uses the trials to strengthen our faith, to mature us so we aren’t lacking anything (James 1:2-4).

Just as the verses in Deuteronomy, James, 1 Peter and the song say, God is with us. He provides. He refines us. He gives us strength. He is our victory. And, during the trial we should continue to praise, rejoice and declare that He is good – all the time!

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.- I Peter 1:3-7

Check out the song!! If you love it like I do, it will be on repeat soon 🙂

Desert Song

This is my prayer in the desert
When all that’s within me feels dry
This is my prayer in my hunger and need
My God is a God who provides

And this is my prayer in the fire
In weakness or trial or pain
There is a faith proved
Of more worth than gold
So refine me Lord through the flames
And I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare

God is my victory and He is here
And this is my prayer in the battle
When triumph is still on it’s way
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I’ll stand
All of my life
In every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship

This is my prayer in the harvest

When favor and providence flow
I know I’m filled to be emptied again
The seed I’ve recieved I will sow

I am doing a precept upon precept study of 1 Peter. What a great book to encourage and uplift us!

I LOVE this song. It has helped me get through so many times in life. The chorus doesn’t change whether you are in the battle or the desert….I will rejoice! Which is so hard to do…especially during an IF Journey. Praying for you.
